Really? You must be a bad-ass server. When was that? Kimpton's been gone for a while hasn't he? I like Pinetti a lot but we don't ever talk about much.
Do you know my manager, melissa garberis? Before P & P she worked at Scala's.
dave_h:
I'm off too.

Cheers!

So, I'm a little concerned. Two weeks ago, the mosh pit at the Dead Moon show was one of the best I've ever been in, ebbing and flowing; however, it feels as though I may have cracked a rib or something. I'm not sure how to check on that w/o a doctor poking me (so to speak). confused

A day, and a night, of meeting, healing, touching, talking, reading, eating well, and warm memories that don't make you long for other days. I loved this beautiful Sunday.
I bow to you all.

"When things are reaching a breaking point, such as they are, it's important to step lightly.
You can feel it everywhere. The four points of pressure attacking a structure designed to handle two; the brooding silence of the grizzled middle-aged man sitting next to you; even the wind, bitter and grey-faced, pulling the leaves from the trees and the dry skin from your head.

Psyched up and ready to go! I'll finally be able to return to work on Wednesday. It's been 2 weeks; I've been going crazy! They even scheduled me for extra shifts so I can get caught up financially. Swear to (whichever) god, my bosses that I have right now are all some of the best I've ever had - and all at the same time....

Don't go back to western lit. Keep going. Read Wild Ginger by Anchee Min, Balzac and the little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie, The Lost Daughter of Happiness by Geling Yan, White Snake by Geling Yan, Red Poppies by Alai (essential), The Dragon's village by Yuan-Tsung Chen, Falling Leaves by Adeline Yen Ma, Soul Mountain by Gao Xingjian, Colors of the Mountain by Da Chen, Sounds of the River by Da Chen. When you are finished with those, start on Japan. You may never return to Wetern Literature...as you can see, I'm the wrong person to ask.

Did you know Cat Powers double LP is released this month? I'm absolutely drooling.

Oh, Across the Nightingail Floor by Lian Hearn ( the author is western, but it takes place in a semi-fictional but very well researched Japan) The first in a projected trilogy and quite stunning in my opinion.
nisi:
getting paid to be a sucker, very impressive. how did you get that gig?

i hope you are happy. wink

Today and tomorrow Sleater-Kinney and Quasi are playing at the Crystal Ballroom, and I believe I am going to miss both of the shows, like a pud. Saturday, they're playing with the Blacks Keys, too, who are like the White Stripes, only better.

Today I shall spend the day wrapped in warm flannel, eating grilled peanut butter sandwiches, and reading. And I don't think any one of you can stop me! Ha!

If one were to fling poo, what precisely is the correct way to spell 'poo'? Sorry, but I couldn't help watching a little of the State of the Union address last night.

In Frech, I believe, peu is pronounced somewhat similarly, but it means little as a quantification. Possibly pou or poow, but I am fairly sure that poo is the standard.
morgan:
Poo, all the way.

You like magnolia. Good for you! smile

Backbiting and infighting. My family continues to undermine their relationships with each other. As a new piece of bad news makes its way down the pike every week, they are only turning against each other. Since I am the only one that lives on the West Coast, they all look to me as some kind of arbiter. But everybody is behaving so poorly that I...

... just spaz out. Honestly, get them all together and just freak at them. Families are supposed to be brimming with trust and support. You might get them to stop long enough for the brain to kick back in. It will probably be most effective if you are known to be reserved and/or level haeded. It might be great fun too.

If that is totally off base please forgive my lack of knowledge of your situation.
