Laurel's been having some trouble lately being hungry all the time and peeing a lot. I thought she had another UTI that turned out not to be and we did a ton of tests this past week under sedation. The vet thinks she has Cushing's disease.
It's a tumor on either her adrenal or pituitary gland. It isn't dangerous and won't shorten her lifespan. And confirming the diagnosis and treatment are both very difficult and involves a lot of repeat blood work which she would probably have to go under sedation for again and again. And treating it would only treat the symptoms; it will not cure her or make her live longer. Treatment can also go horribly wrong if the dosage is off
I'm still deciding what to do and exploring what I can do without putting her through a ton of testing or dangerous side effects of medication.
She is otherwise happy and healthy. I'm taking excellent care of her and giving her all the love.
Poor dog dog. This is breaking my heart.
